Superseded Cummins part numbers: which number to order
Cummins retires part numbers and issues replacements regularly. A superseded number is not a wrong number: here is what it means for your order.
What a supersession is
When Cummins revises a part, the new part usually receives a new number and the old number is marked as superseded. Parts already produced keep their original number, so both numbers identify the same position on the engine and both remain valid on invoices, drawings and parts books.
What the part page shows
Every part page states the current number that ships today and lists the previous numbers it replaces. Enter any of them in the search and you reach the same page.
Which number to order
- Order by the number you have. Your quote states the current number and confirms the fit.
- Either number may be available. Where the previous number is still in stock, the quote says so; the fit is the same unless stated otherwise.
- Send the engine serial number when in doubt. It lets us confirm the correct part before we quote.
Have a number that is not on the site? Request a quote and we check it for you.
